The Vigor 2820 series is DrayTek's latest premium ADSL and broadband router/firewall family, featuring an entirely new stylish case design and new DrayOS 3 operating system. Packed with features, the Vigor 2820 offers truly comprehensive ADSL connetivity and security.

Compatible with all variants of ADSL (include ADSLMax and ADSL2+) the Vigor 2820 can also be used for cable-modem and leased line applications thanks to its additional WAN port (Ethernet). A Gigabit Ethernet port on the WAN side provides high speed connectivity for your server (or uplink to a larger Ethernet Switch). Security features include content filtering, web application controls and a new object based firewall management system.

As with previous DrayTek firewalls, security is taken seriously on the Vigor 2820 Series. The firewall features measures for protection against attacks including DoS (Denial of Service) attacks, IP-based attacks and access by unauthorised remote systems. Wireless, Ethernet and VPN are also protected by various protection systems (see later). A new DrayTek object-based firewall allows even more setup flexibility than ever, enabling you to create combinations of users, rules and restrictions to suit multi-departmental organisations.

Content control features of the firewall allow you to set restrictions on web site access, blocking download of certain file types, blocking specific web sites, blocking IM/P2P applications or other potentially harmful or wasteful content. Using the SurfControl site categorisations enable you to block whole categories of web sites (e.g. gambling, pornography etc.), subject to subscription.

As well as the primary ADSL interface, the Vigor 2820 features a secondary WAN port for Internet access. This is an Ethernet interface and can connect to a second ADSL modem, cable modem or any other Ethernet-based Internet feed. The secondary interface can be used either for WAN-Backup or load balancing.

WAN-Backup provides contingenry (redunancy) in case of your primary ADSL line or ISP suffering temporary outage). Internet Traffic will be temporarily routed via the secondary Internet access. When normal services is restored to your primary ADSL line, all traffic is switch back to that.

If you don't have ADSL, the Ethernet WAN port can instead be used as your primary/only Internet connection (using NAT) so the same router can be used for either ADSL or Ethernet Internet connections.

The USB port provides an alternative connection method (Firmware Upgradable) for Internet backup by connecting to a compatible USB modem (or cellphone) for access to the high speed 3G cellular networks from UK providers such as Vodafone, Orange, 3 and T-Mobile. If you don't have ADSL at all, the USB/3G access method can be used as your primary/only Internet connection, ideal for temporary locations, mobile applications or where broadband access is not available.

Note : For WAN2 you can use either a Ethernet or USB 3G connection but not both at the same time.

FujiFilm FinePix REAL 3D W1 (2009-07-22)

Fujifilm has launched a new compact digital camera which is capable of capturing 3D images and video. The camera, named the Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W1, is the world's first camera to be able to do this, and does it through the use of two lenses and two 10MP CCDs. The camera has a 2.8 inch 3D LCD screen at the back of it, capable of displaying the 3D images and video clips that are captured by the camera. The 3D image capture works by capturing images from both lenses and then merging them into a single image, through the use of Fujifilm's "Real Photo Processor 3D". The camera allows the two lenses to work independently, meaning that a picture of the same scene could be taken by both lenses, but with different photographic settings for each one. In addition, the user can take a picture of an object from one position, and then take a picture of it from another position, and the camera will merge the two, giving a better sense of depth in images captured. In 2D shooting mode, the user can take advantage of the 3x optical zoom offered by each lens, taking a wide-angle shot with one lens, and a close-up with the other. Images and videos made in 3D will require a frame capable of displaying them in 3D, and Fujifilm have released a product for just that: the Fujifilm Real 3D V1 picture viewer. Images captured on the camera can be wirelessly transferred to the frame by infrared, although only SD/SDHC memory can be used for the transfer of 3D movies.

Please, check check NEC LT260K with the "3D Reform" function - a keystone correction feature that corrects trapezoidal distortions. Distortions can appear then you will try to project stereo images on to screen from two projectors from different locations. Some projectors do not use precision optics. A "lens shift" technique is used to produce a properly keystoned image when the projector sits flat on a tabletop. Electronic/digital keystoning is available for additional adjustment, but it causes blurring of the image due to a loss of one-to-one mapping of the image to the DLP panel. Without "lens shift" technique it's almost impossible to get every part of the images to overlap perfectly since the projectors do not have shift lenses in them; so concentrate on getting the central portion of the image to overlap. Vertical disparity between the left and right eye images will hurt the viewer more than horizontal disparity in the alignment; so try to avoid vertical disparity. Silver Fabric Polarizing Filters

So called 'Polarizers' are applied on dual projection displays based on DLP™ or LCD projectors to achieve an immersive perception. Experts call such displays "Passive 3D Displays". Linear or circular polarization are the two main methods to achieve this optical effect.But each method has it's own advantages.

The main advantage of circular polarizers is that the recipient can tilt their heads without losing the immersive 3D perception. However, plain circular polarizers can cause ghosting and color saturation errors which is why we use enhanced methods and high quality materials to induce this both phenomens.

In comparison to the circular method the linear method gives a likewise better signal blocking. Moreover, linear polarizers are not that exspensive as polarizers based on the circular method. Thus, linear polarizers are the most common application for passive 3D dispalys and we recommend to prefer the linear method whenever possible.

To reduce ghosting: Choose a screen with best (hight) extinction. The typical extinction of polarizers used in 3D projection displays is 1000. Choosing a polarizer with the maximum possible extinction is not necessarily the best choice, because high extinction polarizers usually have less transmission, and are less resistant to heat. Use polarizers with extinctions at least fifteen times larger than the screen extinction, both for the projector and for the eyewear.

When the viewer’s head is in normal position (upright), linearly polarized setup gives better performance due to its higher extinction. When the viewer’s head is rotated by 90º, both linear and circular setups are useless, because the parallax appears vertical instead of horizontal. The circular polarization offers a real advantage only in a certain interval of angles [A, B], where A > 0º, and B < 45º.

STEWART Screens

Silver 3D for front projection material is generally accepted as the Rolls Royce of 3D screens, with a price to match. The frame they supply is their SNAPPER, which looks real nice, but does NOT FOLD or break down (four sides are solid).

FilmScreen 150 for rear projection is a flexible rear projection screen material formulated with a neutral density gray tint for enhanced contrast. Excellent in rooms where high ambient light is a concern. Appropriate for moderate viewing angles. This material is a perfect choice for passive 3-D applications.

TechPlex 150 for rear projection is an acrylic rear projection screen material formulated with a neutral density gray tint for enhanced contrast. Excellent in rooms where high ambient light is a concern. Appropriate for moderate viewing angles. This material is a perfect choice for passive 3-D applications.

TechScreen 150 for rear projection is excellent for use in 3D applications due to the screens ability to preserve stereoscopic images.

HARKNESS SCREENS Screens

Good brightness, good extinction, and looks to be good portability. Not cheap, but about half the price of Stewart. They claim to be the choice of DISNEY for 3D screens. They now have a rear screen material, but it is quite dark. They also offer a ROLLER screen with 3D material that would be produced on a custom basis.

Spectral 240 3D is used for ‘passive’ front projection with 3D systems using polarised light. The extinction ratio is high and provides spectacular 3D images. The surface also supports 2D images and so can be used successfully in applications where 2D and 3D are both shown. The intrinsically high gain (2.4) overcomes light losses in 3D systems. Seams are invisible under projection conditions.

Perlux 220 surfaces are recommended for ‘active’ (shutter eyewear) 3D systems and ‘passive’ systems not using polarised light. 3 levels of gain are available for different screen sizes to overcome inherent light losses in 3D projection. All Perlux screens give excellent images with 2D projection. Seams are invisible under projection conditions.

RP 3D is specially formulated for ‘passive’ 3D in applications where rear projection is required. Seams are virtually invisible under normal projection conditions.

There are two Stereo 3D projection techniques:

If immersion isn’t absolutely necessary, and stereoscopic 3D is the main goal, then front projection works effectively. Rear projection systems are a little more cumbersome to set up and more expensive, but the display is more compelling than front projection.

For Passive Stereo 3D Projection screens must have silver matte surface to preserve polarization.
